2017 Advent Days of Prayer
December 7 and 14
This year Franciscan Retreats and Spirituality Center will offer two Advent Days of Prayer for those who wish to take some time in the prayerful atmosphere of the Retreat Center to slow down and reflect upon the Advent-Christmas Season.
Retreatants bring their own lunch for the day; the Retreat Center provides beverages and a sweet treat. Advent Days of Prayer begin at 9:30 in the morning with coffee and conversation in the dining room and conclude with Mass; Mass usually finishes by 2:30 p.m. See the schedule below.
December 7, 2017, Have No Anxiety, presented by Br. Bob Roddy, OFM Conv. The Advent-Christmas Season, while a joyful time for family and friends, often becomes fraught with tension and distress. We lose sight of the wonder, the joy and the inspiration that this season offer. We will look at what the Scriptures and the saints recommend to alleviate the dis-stress of the season.
December 14, 2017, Creating Peace Begins with Oneself, presented by Jayne Krim. We all want to live a life filled with more peace, but we may think peace is unattainable for us. Peace is not only possible, it is available for all. We may not find it where we tend to look for it. Where do we find it? How do we possess it? True peace is closer than we think. Peace begins within. It begins within and manifests out.
